In the framework of the implementation of the Jean Monnet Erasmus+ programme “EU Policies Towards its Eastern Mediterranean Space: Energy and Security”, the Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens organised with success a cross-fertilization webinar with the same title.
Held from 15 November to 10 December 2021, the webinar was articulated around three thematic units, namely (1) EU Integration and Eastern Mediterranean, (2) EU Security Policies towards Eastern Mediterranean Space and (3) EU Energy Policies towards Eastern Mediterranean Space, and included seven teaching sessions and workshops. The webinar aimed at expanding knowledge and helping the participants understand the complex issues of the European policies in the Mediterranean, with a view to enhancing their critical analysis of the EU’s interests and involvement in the Eastern Mediterranean space, as well as the stakes this region represents for the EU Member States and other international actors, both regional and universal.
The teaching staff of the cross-fertilization seminar comprised of academics from Greek and foreign Universities, think-tank experts and other specialists and practitioners in the thematic areas focused on (see list below).
The seminar was attended by participants from Greece and abroad. The said participants included postgraduate students and doctoral candidates from Greece and abroad, officials from State agencies dealing with EU integration, energy issues and security issues, as well as interested members of the wider public. The participants displayed a keen interest in the seminar and contributed with questions and comments in the lively and stimulating debates in the sessions and workshops.
